United South High School (USHS), recalled the Renaissance period with a festival that offered an abundance of fun and learning opportunities. Students were joined by teachers to re-create the era, which spawned a cultural movement that spanned the 14th to 17th century. It is a time in human history that had a profound effect on art, literature, philosophy, fashion, religion, music, theater, and other aspects of culture. The fair allowed students to connect the old world to the new with a unique curriculum based learning experience. Some of the activities included Shakespearean performances, art & poetry contests, chess tournaments, golf, and the coronation of the King and Queen. The festival was coordinated by 10th grade world history teacher and department chair Andrea Garza.
